NBC announced four more additions to their comedy lineup for the Fall. Chelsea Handler’s project based off of her book Are You There Vodka? It’s Me, Chelsea was added to the list, along with an adaptation of the British TV hit Free Agents starring the much-loved and underestimated acting-wise Hank Azaria.
Amanda Peet returns in the romantic comedy Bent, rumored to begin airing midseason. Upright Citizens Brigade alums Lennonn Parham and Jessica St. Clair created an untitled comedy which was also picked up after having to reshoot their low budget “made for nothing” pilot.
So far, NBC has signed on 6 new comedy series and 5 dramas for the Fall/Spring season. Who wants to bet that only three of these eleven survive? My guess is on Hank Azaria and Free Agents. Funny women Kathryn Hahn (known for wanting to roll John C. Reilly into a little ball and shove him up her vagina in the cult classic Step Brothers) and Natasha Leggero (Chelsea Lately, Reno 911!) are set to star in the new show alongside Azaria. With a billing like this, it’s a surefire hit.
Chelsea Handler’s project is also guaranteed to be a success, coming from such a hard hitter and side-splitting book full of stories every woman, and the occasional man, can relate to.
