On May 1, 2011, United States of America received the long-awaited news. The mastermind behind the 9/11 attacks, Osama Bin Laden was killed thanks to the joined effort of US military and intelligence. As the land of the free is basking in a well deserved spotlight, comedians of all sorts used the opportunity to put a funny spin on this historic event, expanding twitter feed to dangerously high.
“R.I.P Osama Bin Laden – World Hide And Go Seek Champion (2001 – 2011),” tweeted a young comedian Adam Hendra from New Zealand.
“Bin laden is dead. Your welcome. He probably Choked on a macaroon,” quipped Judd Apatow.
“Got Bin Laden AND interrupted Celebrity Apprentice? Win for Obama all around,” tweeted Jimmy Fallon.
“Tonight, President Obama will announce that Clint Eastwood shot Osama Bin Laden,” said Steve Martin.
“Wow! They killed the Boogieman! I felt something was in the air tonight! Bin Laden era over! S’next? ?;^•” mused Jim Carrey.
“Trump demanding to see Bin Laden death certificate. #binladen,” was a reply to the news from comedian and actor Albert Brooks.
“Oh shit — AP reporting Bin Laden has regenerated as Tom Baker. No matter how collected Obama is during his speech, he’s hearing LL Cool J’s “Mama Said Knock You Out” blasting in his head,” quipped Patton Oawalt.
