After his seemingly never-ending barrage of cartoons flooding TBS (Family Guy, The Cleveland Show and American Dad) and $54.1 million box office smash Ted, it seems like Seth MacFarlane has peaked on the scale of comedic thespianism.

Not so. MacFarlane will be acting and directing in new film, A Million Ways to Die in the West. MacFarlane wrote the script with cohorts Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild, fellow masterminds behind Ted. The movie will be in theaters as soon as Summer 2013.

Following the success of Ted, MacFarlane has decided to branch out and direct a new type of movie. A Million Ways to Die in The West is said to be an offshoot of the classic film Blazing Saddles. The focus of A Million Ways is to satirize the difficulties of living in the west using a modern sense of humor.

MacFarlane will be playing a starring role in his new film. This is going to be a first for the director/producer who hasn’t really had much live action acting experience outside of some late night appearances, guest spots and a little SNL time.

Although, he may get some good practice while hosting the 85th annual Academy Awards in February.
